Beulah Community Deck project update
We’re excited to share the latest progress on the Beulah Community Deck!

Back in August 2024, we were successful in receiving a $50,000 grant through Regional Development Victoria’s Tiny Towns Grant program.
While the planning and building permit process took nearly a year, recent approvals finally allowed us to break ground—and since then, the project has been moving quickly.
Over the past four weeks, the site has taken big steps forward, from preparation and mark-out, to foundation works and pouring, right through to the installation of new glass doors at the community centre.
It’s wonderful to see the deck taking shape for the benefit of everyone in our town.
A huge thank you goes to the local community groups, businesses, and individuals who have generously donated funds, time, and resources. Without your support, this project simply would not be possible.
Every contribution is not only helping to build a deck we can all enjoy, but also strengthening and reinvigorating the heart of Beulah.
With the most recent progress so far being that the site has been cut and marked out, with the foundations prepared and poured.
The western brick wall in the community centre has been removed with glass doors also installed there.
Like any community project, there have been a few hurdles—planning and building approvals took far longer than expected, some very welcome rain washed away our markup for the foundations and steel we ordered couldn’t be found by a supplier—but despite the challenges, the commitment and support of locals has kept things progressing well.
With the next steps focusing on the steel installation for the deck structure, installation of the Spotted Gum timber decking, erecting the balustrading, final fixtures and finishing touches.
As for the impact on the community once completed, the Beulah Community Deck will provide a welcoming space for community events and gatherings, be a family-friendly area for locals and visitors to enjoy, along with a boost to local pride and township activity as a lasting facility that supports people of all ages.
We would especially like to thank; Regional Development Victoria for the $50,000 grant, the Yarriambiack Shire for waiving the planning permit fee, the various community groups who have donated funds to the project, both Maurie Parsons and Cody Shannon for their building skills and experience keeping us on track, and the many individuals who have helped in various ways through the project so far.
Every effort—whether financial, practical, or through volunteering—has brought us closer to making this vision a reality, so thank you all.
