Big Fellas Win
Warracknabeal Bowling Clubs’ popular Pairs Medley Tournament, sponsored by W.B.Gardiner & Son, was held recently in fine, windy conditions.
Interested bowlers from Ararat, Nyah, Woomelang, Sea Lake, Coughlin Park, Dimboola, Rainbow, Murtoa, Beulah, Minyip, Warracknabeal golf and Warracknabeal entered and enjoyed the variety of games on offer.
all of them; the other drew their last game so became runner-up on the day.
Winners, Gary Bellis and Calvin Pendlebury, were challenged in their last game against the Wights’ from Ararat when they started slowly and only managed to gain the lead after five ends. Only one shot up, going into the eighth end, scoring on that end was imperative and they were equal to the task!
Runner-up team, a family combination, Leigh and Damian Strauss, performed well for three wins then drew with the two Shanes, (Powell and Langman), from Warracknabeal, in the final game. Each team scored four shots, one an end, very evenly matched.
All players appreciated their afternoon tea, provided by club members, and the simple, challenging format of the competition.
