The event successfully raised $730 for the Wimmera Hospice Care Auxiliary through a community raffle, thanks to the support of local businesses.

The three-day event brought together members from eight car clubs across Victoria, South Australia, and even as far as Broken Hill and Albury.

Tour director and organiser Bruce Broady said the weekend kicked off in style with a social night at Dooen.

“We started Friday night out at the Dooen Hotel with a meet and greet, in which about 75 people turned up and we had a quiz night after that and supper,” he said.

On Saturday, enthusiasts toured Horsham’s Military Collection, the Murtoa Stick Shed, and Woods’ Museum at Rupanyup before regrouping at the White Hart Hotel for dinner.

“There were about 90 people for lunch and 96 for tea at the White Hart,” he said.

“It was a great night.”

Sunday morning brought thunder, lightning, and heavy rain, but the group pressed on.

“We decided to still go ahead down at Sawyer Park, as by quarter to nine, the weather had cleared, and everyone sat around chatting and walking among the cars,” he said.

Around 52 vehicles were displayed on the Sunday, ranging from vintage models to classic touring cars, with 85 people attending breakfast and lunch despite the earlier downpour.

“All the prizes were donated by local businesses, and we’d especially like to thank them for that,” Mr Broady said.

Participants also voted for their favourite cars in a friendly “three you’d like in your garage” competition, which was a highlight that kept spirits high even as grey clouds loomed.

Mr Broady said he was thrilled with the feedback from participants.

“I’m really happy, as we’ve had a lot of good feedback, especially about the dinner,” he said.

“With eight clubs involved, it was great to see everyone mixed up and getting to know each other.”

Mr Broady and other members decided to give $1000 to the Wimmera Hospice Care Auxiliary at the end, by adding $270 by themselves.

The rally featured clubs from Horsham, Bordertown, Naracoorte, Kingston, and Riverland, celebrating their shared love of motoring history and camaraderie.
