An email was sent out to holders of tickets for the event in Horsham on Tuesday, stating: "The promoter of Freestyle Kings wishes to advise that due to unforeseen circumstances, the Freestyle Kings - Horsham City Oval - Horsham, VIC scheduled to take place Saturday, February 14, 2026, will no longer be proceeding.

Described as "the greatest show on two wheels" and "a spectacle so big it can't be contained indoors", the event's cancellation has left BMX and moto fans asking why.

Disappointment among fans was immediate after the announcement, with many taking to social media to express their thoughts.

Brit, based in Quantong, told Wimmera Mallee News she purchased tickets for herself, her partner and their son.

"We were going to attend with two groups of our friends - a family from Horsham with two kids and a family from Portland with three kids," Brit said.

She added they registered early for tickets to avoid missing out and brought them to the presale.

"We were really looking forward to a moto event coming to Horsham as my almost four-year-old rides a little CRF50 and my partner has been a competitive enduro rider," Brit explained.

Brit said she cried when she heard the news and added the timing "absolutely sucks".

"My friends in Portland are disappointed as we were looking forward to a weekend together as well," Britt said.

"My friend has already been looking for other locations we could possibly attend, as we have been planning this since it was announced last year."

For Codie Marra and Lauren Wiggins, the event tickets were part of their Christmas presents to their children.

Codie, from Haven/Horsham, planned to attend as a family of five.

"We have two boys, four and seven, who are rev heads and love motorbikes, particularly tricks and the atmosphere of freestyle motocross," Codie said.

"These tickets were part of their Christmas presents.

"We are devastated as we were excited to see them live in our hometown, as we’ve seen Nitro Circus when they came to town, and it was amazing."

Likewise, Lauren, from Horsham, said her boys, eight and 11, were excited about attending the show after getting tickets as a Christmas gift.

"My boys love motorbikes (as does their dad)," she said.

"I haven’t told them yet that it’s cancelled."

Lauren said she is disappointed by the cancellation, and another friend who bought tickets for her husband for Father's Day is also disappointed.

"It would be nice to know the reason why it’s not going ahead," she said.

"They were still advertising tickets for sale until recently, too."

Kez Phillips also gave her husband event tickets for Christmas, and the couple planned to be arena side.

"It was something that we are both interested in," Kez said.

"... And a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see Robbie Maddison strut his stuff."

Freestyle Kings and Horsham Rural City Council were contacted for comment to clarify the event's cancellation, but neither had replied at the time of press.

Update: Since the publication of this story, the Horsham Rural City Council did issue a comment on the event cancellation.

Horsham Rural City Council mayor Brian Klowss said the news was disappointing for the community.

“We were very much looking forward to welcoming the Freestyle Kings to Horsham,” he said.

“Events like this bring people together, support local businesses, and add to the vibrancy of our region, so it’s unfortunate that it won’t be going ahead.”
