Gathering together in power
Organisers of the World Day of Prayer in local and wider communities have been pleased with the response to Friday’s Service, where people gathered together to support the people of Nigeria.
Organisers of the World Day of Prayer in local and wider communities have been pleased with the response to Friday’s Service, where people gathered together to support the people of Nigeria.
With involvement from the various Christian denominations represented locally, prayers and readings were shared, and support was provided through greater knowledge of Nigeria, prayer and financial support.
Hosted by the Southern Mallee Cooperative Parish church in Rainbow, coordinator Margaret Unger reported that a great sense of excitement and awareness of the need to support those reaching out for help set the scene for the time together.
Twenty people from across the district joined together and were glad to support the people of Nigeria through various support projects.
A total of $254 was raised, which will be used by the local Bible Society to assist people on the ground whose lives are affected by poverty, fear, and other factors that prevent them from living safely and well.
“We were thrilled with the response and hope even more will be able to attend in 2027, where 100 years of the World Day of Prayer will be recognised."
