Gymnast Bailey second Sports Star finalist
The countdown to the 2025 Wimmera Sports Star of the Year Awards continues, with the second finalist now officially revealed – and it’s a name that’s been making waves in gymnastics circles both locally and nationally.

Remi Bailey, representing Natimuk and District Gymnastics Club, is the second finalist for the 2025 award following an outstanding year that has seen him achieve success on both state and national stages.
Bailey capped off his season with an incredible performance at the Australian Gymnastics Championships in Queensland, where he claimed two bronze medals: one in the individual vault and another as part of the Victorian team overall in the level 8 open male division.
Earlier in the year, he also excelled at the Victorian state championships, earning silver on the floor and bronze on the vault.
Wimmera Regional Sports Assembly executive officer Tony Caccaviello said Bailey's dedication and perseverance were on full display throughout the year as he overcame challenges in preparation for delivering career-best performances on the national stage.
"His results reflect not only technical excellence but also the resilience and determination that define Wimmera’s sporting spirit," Caccaviello said.
"This recognition marks the second finalist announcement for the 2025 Wimmera Sports Star of the Year Awards, following Georgia Foster’s selection earlier in the year.
"More announcements will follow throughout the year as we continue to shine a light on the incredible sporting talent across our region, from rising juniors to experienced champions."
Caccaviello said the Sports Start of the Year Awards celebrated not just performance but "the heart and dedication behind it".
"The grand celebration will take place on February 13 2026, where finalists across 16 categories will be honoured, culminating in the announcement of the Wimmera Sports Star of the Year," he said.
"Now it’s over to you, Wimmera.
"If you know an athlete, coach, team, volunteer or community initiative that deserves to be recognised, get your nominations in now."
