Hill stars at school state titles

Horsham College’s Jett Hill has returned from the School Sport Victoria State Secondary Track and Field Championships with a gold medal in the 400m.

Competing on Monday at Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park, the under-13 athlete finished first with a personal best of 55.51 seconds. 

Josh Taylor also walked away with a medal, receiving bronze after coming third in the under-15 triple jump with a distance of 12.02 metres.

Several other Horsham College athletes competed at the championships: Asha Meek (under-15) finished fourth in the 100m and 90m hurdles and sixth in the 200m, Kynan Stasinowsky finished fourth in the under 18s javelin, Gretel Blake finished fourth in the under 14s 400m Benji Jowett finished 6th in the under 13s 100m, Claire Crute finished eighth in the under 13s javelin, and the under 13 boys 4x100m relay team finished sixth. 

Competing for St Brigid’s, Horsham's James Burton finished fifth in the under-17s long jump.
