Outstanding accomplishments celebrated
It was a night of acknowledging champions for the Dimboola Bowling Club, highlighted by several extraordinary achievements across the Wimmera.

A day of bowls was followed by an evening of food, drink and celebrations, with chairman Bobby Clark hosting the club's presentation night in late March.
Judith Albrecht was presented with the club's ladies' championship, while Peter O'Loughlin won the men's accolade.
"It was an amazing celebration," O'Loughlin said.
"We've had a wonderful season of weekend and midweek pennant bowls."
O'Loughlin praised Albrecht's successful summer, which featured making the finals of the champion of champions and the Wimmera region state finals.
"Judith had a great run," he said.
"Unfortunately, she was beaten by the same person in each final (Warracknabeal's Edna Anderson), but it's an amazing achievement nevertheless."
O'Loughlin also highlighted the feats of Wayne Albrecht and Alan Krahe, who were runners-up in the Men's State Pairs held in Ararat from March 7-10.
The club selector and former committee member said the club did well to be competitive over the summer.
"Overall, the club has had a successful year," he said.
"We had a few people pull out at the start of the season due to family commitments, which meant we had to make some last-minute changes."
Chairman Bobby Clark acknowledged Merv Roberts' 80th birthday during the club's presentation night.
As an active club member, Roberts was given a veterans badge, a feat which drew applause from the room.
After congratulating, Clark stressed the club's continued success was on the back of volunteers, with vacancies on the board and various committee roles up for grabs at the annual general meeting.
While the cooler months will see the competitive bowls competition put to rest until October, O'Loughlin said the greens will still see action.
"We're now focused on social bowls," he said.
"It's a great way to try lawn bowls without the stress of playing competition.
"It is also, as the name suggests, very social. It's a great way to meet new people."
Social bowls are held every Wednesday and Saturday at the Dimboola Bowling Club.
