Rainbow Silo Art continues to attract visitors, with strong early numbers reported by the Hindmarsh Shire Council.

Council spokesperson said that the attraction had already made a strong impact on Rainbow and the wider region.

"The Rainbow Silo Art has been a tremendous success, bringing a lot of interest and visitors to Rainbow and the surrounding region," the spokesperson said.

"Since the opening in late December, there have been around 2,000 people visiting the Silo, with visitation being fairly consistent through all days of the week and weekend, with Monday being the highest and Friday being the lowest."

The spokesperson said the majority of visitors had come from outside the district.

"81 per cent of visitors have been from outside of the Rainbow postcode area, with around 1,400 being from outside of Hindmarsh Shire."

It said most non-local visitors were Victorians, but the site was also attracting interest from interstate and overseas visitors.

"Of the non-local visitors, 86 per cent have been from elsewhere in Victoria, with visitors from all states and territories of Australia (NSW, SA and QLD the biggest markets), and 13 international visitors."

The spokesperson noted that visitor feedback had been highly encouraging.

"Council has received around 50 online feedback forms, all of which have overwhelmingly positive," a spokesperson said.

"Many highlight the uniqueness of the experience, the elevator making access easy for all, being able to see inside a silo, the view from the top and the artwork."

The spokesperson said visitor feedback had also been highly encouraging.

Word of mouth had been the biggest source of promotion, with online reach supporting it.

"57 per cent of visitors say they heard about the Silo from Word of Mouth, 34 per cent heard about it from the internet, with the rest being through newspaper and magazine articles," a spokesperson said.

"A Visit Hindmarsh Facebook campaign specifically on the silo had 90,717 views and reached 55,184 people."

Council stated more works were now being planned and delivered at the site.

"More additions are being prepared for the existing internal art to finish it off."

"Council is currently looking at options for activation of the second Silo bin."

"Some further street directional signage, walking directional bollards linking the Silo and Federal Street, and a town map promotional sign at the Silo are being prepared and installed."

The spokesperson said Rainbow's silo remained a unique attraction on the national tourism map.

"Council is extremely proud that Rainbow has the only Silo Art site in Australia that has internal art and a viewing area and, as far as we know, the only place in Australia that you can see inside a cement grain silo bin," a spokesperson said.

The Rainbow Silo Art is a unique and significant tourism attraction to Rainbow, Hindmarsh Shire, and the greater Wimmera Mallee region, and its visitor potential is already evident.
