The players he defeated in the run to the line were Judy Gove, John Barbetti, and in the quarter final beating Bill Russ 21 to seven, to secure a grand final spot.

Graeme White also played well 611th rough the competition, with a win over Joan Clarke, Barry Holland, then a quarter final win over Graeme Clayton 21 to nine, thus a grand final match against Terry.

The final was held last Sunday afternoon in mild conditions, with Graeme gaining a five shot lead early at plus three to Terry minus two shots.

Terry then clicked into gear with his new bowling arm working well, drawing shots with confidence, and picking up threes and twos over the next nine ends of the game, scoring 19 shots to Whitey no score, and setting up a winning lead.

Whitey tried to rebound, scoring a three and a single to be seven shots to 19 down, but Terry then sealed the match with a two after 14 ends to win well 21 to seven.

The Club’s annual Two Bowl Triples Tournament is scheduled for Saturday May 3rd, however this being National Vote Day, the club thinks to change the day for a week later on the 10th May. Players will be notified of that change if any.

Three players a side, two bowls each, three games on the day, with all winners of a game receiving a monetary prize, plus winners and runners up prizes.

Mainly sponsored by the Warrnambool Bowls Club, plus local sponsors to make it an interesting and popular event, this format is the only one in district done this way, so contact the club and get your entry in to Match Committee chairman Wayne Gove on 0488 180 870.

The Golf Bowls Ladies Pairs event was well patronized with five of the six pairs eligible playing off on the Golf Bowls greens. The winners went to Mary Ginnane, after a successful season on the greens, and her partner Sal McKenzie, a new member who shows great promise with games under her belt. Well done to both players, and to all the other girls who entered. The experience in all events during the season will be helpful going forward.

The recent Bowls trip to Warrnambool by our club members resulted in a close contest in the fours, with one team finishing in the top eight (third) and the other a close ninth just one point off being in that eighth position on the final day.

However, the Saturday Finals is a knockout, with both teams not being able to continue their good form up to then. A small amount of money was won, with hopes of a better performance next year. A big thank you to the Warrnambool Bowls Club for the successful bowls format, lovely meals and mate ship over the full week of competition. Chalamber Bowls member Chris Young had a very successful week, winning the pairs and fours, filling his pockets with all the prize money.

A meeting of the club committee was held on Wednesday evening with submissions from a recent Association Meet discussed and acted on.

Golf Bowls will end the season with a presentation night in the coming weeks in what was a successful year for the popular club. Two Divisions with Two Flags to boot. Our AGM is also coming soon so make yourself available to attend.

Good bowling and good luck.
